Personal
I'm an Elgin native having been born and raised in the local area. I started doing commercial construction when I was 14 while also still in High School at Burlington Central High School. When I graduated high school, I went on to do one year at Elgin Community College and four years with the Chicago Area Carpenters Apprenticeship School. I graduated to become a Journeyman Carpenter and continued doing Commercial (and some residential) construction till 1999. From 1999-2002 I was primarily doing commercial estimating and General Contracting.
Construction was taking a pretty hard dive, especially after Sept. 11th. Construction companies were really struggling, and unfortunately some were starting to "low ball" estimates, and out of town companies were trying to come into the area and under cut jobs to survive. It was becoming increasingly harder to run an ethical Union company, Pay prevailing wages to all employees, and have a profitable company at the same time.
A good friend of mine approached me with an opportunity to manage his Real Estate firm. After much thought and prayer, I came to the conclusion that unless I too wanted to "cheat" in the world of construction, I better make a career change. I accepted his offer, took the course's to get my Real Estate Salesman’s license, and then Proceeded to get my Real Estate Brokers license. I started for him in the winter of 2002, and I actually sold my first home the first day I had my license. I was only with him for 5 months before I was able to move straight to RE/MAX. I started with RE/MAX Professionals west in April of 2003, and I have loved everyday with them since.
I learned in construction that you have to work hard, and that hard work pays off. I truly enjoy working with people, and even sometime enjoy the challenge of a tough transaction better then the smoothness of an easy one. Though I have no earned title saying so, I consider myself a professional problem solver. Some people say there are no guarantees in life, but I will make you this promise:
I will work as hard as I can for you, no matter the size of the transaction, and if you are not happy with me, or don't think I am working hard for you, I WILL FIRE MYSELF!
I think Zig Ziglar puts it best when he says, "you can get everything in life you want, as long as you help enough other people get what they want." I am a professional Real Estate Broker, and I look forward to helping you get what you want.
